TEHRAN – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that the main objective of the soft warfare against Iran by the enemies is to change and undermine the people’s beliefs.

The most important objective behind this complicated soft warfare is changing the Iranian people’s beliefs, Leader said during a meeting with director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Mohammad Sarafraz and his managers.

The Leader highlighted the importance of “precise” and “wise” planning by the IRIB in this “serious battle”.

“In the soft warfare the same objectives of the military warfare is sought, but deeper and more comprehensive,” he noted.

In spite of the military warfare, psychological warfare is not “understandable” and “tangible”, he asserted.

“Military warfare usually stirs the people’s emotions and creates national unity and integrity, while soft warfare reduces motivations for resistance and lays the groundwork for differences,” the Leader said.

He also said that the Iranian people and officials are the main targets of the enemy in the psychological war.

The enemy seeks to influence the people, especially the youth, and manipulate their “religious, political and cultural” beliefs, Ayatollah Khamenei noted.

He added that the Iranian people have some beliefs about the former “corrupt” Phalavi regime but the enemy seeks to portray a “beautiful” image of that “ugly past”.

The enemy is seeking to convey this message that “the Islamic Revolution was not essential through changing the beliefs on the past,” the Leader remarked.

He added that the enemy also seeks to manipulate the people’s beliefs for the time being and the future.

Elsewhere, the Leader urged the IRIB to counter the psychological warfare by the enemies.

He called on the IRIB to reach a “correct and realistic” analysis of the country’s domestic situation.
